New roofing
Photos from one of our slate re-roofs, from strip-out to finished roof.
The old slates and underlay come off and the rafters are checked. Anything rotten or damaged is replaced before we go further.
A new breathable membrane goes on, followed by new battens set out for the slates or tiles.
The roof is re-covered in straight, even courses, with valleys, hips and verges formed as we go.
Ridges and leadwork are completed, the site is cleared, and you get before-and-after photos of your new roof.

Re-roofed our semi at the same time as our neighbour's for a very fair price. The lads were polite, tidied up every day and texted progress updates when we were busy. When a patio slab got knocked loose they owned up straight away and put it right at no charge.
Got in touch on New Year's Eve with water coming through a skylight and heard back the same day. They made it safe with a temporary fix, were straight about what could and couldn't be done, and came in cheaper than the other quotes.
Nathan and Karl found both leaks, talked me through the options with prices and kept me informed throughout. The new roof light looks great inside and out, and the photos of the outside work were really useful after being let down by roofers before.
Quick to respond and did a proper job. Unlike other contractors they didn't try to talk me into a whole new roof, and the price stayed as quoted even when a few extra bits turned up once they were on the roof.
Karl answered quickly from the first message, the new flat roof was finished to a high standard and the before-and-after photos showed exactly what had been done. They cleaned up thoroughly and we've already booked our next job.

Many roofs only need a repair, such as replacing slipped slates or cracked tiles, repointing a ridge or renewing a flashing. Replacement starts to make sense when faults are spread across the whole roof, the battens or underlay have failed, or you are paying for repeated repairs to the same slopes. We will tell you honestly which one your roof needs.

A re-roof on a typical house is usually measured in days rather than weeks once the scaffolding is up. Larger or more complicated roofs, rotten timbers found during the strip and bad weather can all extend that, and we will give you an expected timescale before work starts.
Replacing a roof like for like does not usually need planning permission, but listed buildings and homes in conservation areas, such as parts of Tynemouth and Cullercoats, can have extra rules. Re-covering a large part of a roof also falls under the Building Regulations. It is worth checking with North Tyneside Council before the work begins.
